In 1979, the Michigan Legislature approved House Concurrent Resolution 349 which officially established the City of Bangor as Michigan's Apple Center. Roughly speaking, Apple Country includes a ten mile radius around Bangor, Michigan's Apple Center. Please see the Michigan Historical Center's map of historical farming areas. Bangor is at the heart of the fruit farming area in Southwest Michigan. Michiganappletours.com offers a great tour of Southwest Michigan to see Apple Country's orchards, farm stands, cider mills, and more.

Gateway to Lake Michigan:  Bangor is conveniently located between South Haven and Kalamazoo. Bangor is in the center of the Lonely Planet's number one destination of the Top 10 US travel destinations for 2014Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan's Gold Coast. Make Bangor part of your trip to West Michigan, or enjoy it as your home!

Conveniently close to the beaches and boating on Lake Michigan, Bangor is just far enough away to escape the high paced and high priced living of the lakefront. Bangor is a great place to live well with locally grown produce available at the community farmers market. We also have a nice variety of restaurants, a wonderful network of parks, and we are the trailhead for the Bangor-South Haven Heritage Water Trail.

Train City USA:  Along Amtrak's Pere Marquette line, the beautifully restored Bangor Depot serves passengers along this Chicago-Grand Rapids route. We are a proud part of train Americana. Plus, we have the best three-letter station code: BAM!
